HEALTH CHECK BEFORE BUYING A DOG Part 1
Before purchasing a dog, make a few basic checks to ascertain the state of its health. This is especially important with puppies.

Watch the whole litter of puppies running about in a small space; they are likely to empty their bladders and bowels, giving you the chance to check that their motions are reasonably formed, with no sign of diarrhea. A puppy that does not join in the romping may be tired, lame or simply unsociable.
You should be able to pick up a puppy without it whimpering or showing signs of distress as you examine its body. Puppies must be held carefully in the crook of the arm (rather as you would hold a baby), with one hand supporting the hindquarters and the base of the spine and the other the forelimbs and head.
