Why is Nigeria excluded from America Visa Lottery list of countries?
The Diversity Visa lottery has that name because it is designed to encourage diversity of origin in the US immigrant population. For that reason, countries that have sent 50,000 or more immigrants to the US in the previous five years are not eligible.
The countries whose nationals cannot enter the 2019 lottery are Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam.
This list has not changed from the 2018 lottery.
