There are hundreds of types of birds in the world. Some are big, others can mimic voices and a handful can do tricks. No matter what, owning a pet bird can be a cool experience, especially if the bird is known for its friendliness and love of cuddles. They are also a lot easier to care for than some other pets.

Cockatiels are known for their easy-going personality and being friendly and affectionate. They are easy to handle, which means they are good with children. These intelligent birds can sing and respond to their owners; they can mimic sounds, whistle and make fun noises. Though they aren’t known for talking, some can pick up a few words here and there.
They like to stay engaged, so they need to be out of their cage for at least an hour a day to socialize; cockatiels love to be petted. They love to play and listen to the TV or radio. Provide toys, especially mirrors, so they can play.
Cockatiels are a member of the cockatoo family and can live up to 20 years. They come in an array of colors.
These little birds are louder than most. Conures are known to be curious, active and social. They love to be around humans constantly and are even known to take showers with their owners.
They love to dance and can speak a few words. These intelligent birds need stimulation, so have lots of toys. Be warned; they will pick their feathers or screech if there is not enough stimulation or interaction.

The last bird on our list is the lovebird. One of the smallest known parrot species, the adorable lovebird is an intelligent bird that is perfect for smaller living quarters, such as an apartment or condo. These quiet birds are best in pairs, as they need social interaction.
Lovebirds are easy to breed, so if you want more than two, you won’t have to wait long. They can live up to 20 years.
