When it comes to achieving our goals, we need all the help we can get. That’s why it’s crucial to have a set of rules that we can follow to increase our chances of success.

Here are 22 atomic rules that I follow to keep my life on track, and they may help you, too.

1. Don’t be a hamster on a wheel.

The first rule is to be productive and not busy.

There’s a difference between the two. Just because you’re always on the go doesn’t mean you’re actually getting anything done.

Rather than working aimlessly, you should take a step back, rest, analyze and then go for the productive work.

2. The 80/20 rule.

This rule states that 20 percent of your efforts will produce 80 percent of your results.

It’s essential to focus on the things that are actually going to move the needle instead of getting bogged down in the details.

3. Set SMART goals.

This is probably the most important rule on the list. Your goals need to be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-based in order to be effective.

If your goals don’t meet these criteria, they’re likely not going to do much for you in the long run.

4. Simplify your life. Practice Minimalism.

The simpler your life is, the easier it will be to achieve your goals. That’s because you’ll have fewer distractions and more time to focus on what’s important.

So declutter your life and get rid of anything that’s holding you back. It may be your negative thoughts, toxic people, or something that just ruins your day.

5. Automate your finances.

One of the best ways to save money and reach your financial goals is to automate your finances. This way, you’ll never have to think about it or worry about making a mistake.

You can automate your savings, investments, and bill payments.

6. Measure everything you want to improve.

If you want to see progress, then you need to measure your progress. This goes for everything from your fitness goals to your business goals.

Find a way to track your progress, and then make sure you take the necessary steps to improve.

7. Set weekly checkpoints.

At the beginning of each week, look at your goals and see where you’re at. This will help you stay on track and make necessary adjustments to your plans.

The new year isn’t coming anytime soon. So, start doing what you want from next week itself.

8. Review your progress monthly.

In addition to setting weekly checkpoints, you should also review your progress monthly. This will allow you to take a step back and see how far you’ve come.

It can also help you identify any areas that need improvement.

9. Celebrate your wins.

Celebrating your successes, no matter how big or small they may be is essential. This will help you stay motivated and focused on your goals.

So take the time to celebrate your wins, even if it’s just a tiny victory.

10. Say NO to everything that doesn’t take you where you need to go.

You need to be selective with your time and energy to achieve your goals. That means saying no to anything that doesn’t help you move closer to your goals.

It’s not always easy to say no, but it’s necessary if you want to be successful.

11. Learn to buy time and to sell time.

You can’t do everything yourself, so delegate and outsource when necessary.

This will free up your time so you can focus on the things that are most important to you and creates a larger impact.

There’s no shame in delegating or outsourcing. In fact, it’s often a smart move.

12. Have a notebook.

I’m a big fan of the notebook because it helps me organize my thoughts and ideas. Whenever I have a new idea, I write it down in my notebook. This way, I can refer back to it later and flesh it out.

If you’re trying to achieve something, a notebook can be a helpful tool.

I use my notebook for my ideas, weekly planning, and monthly planning.

13. Zen mode while working.

You need to eliminate distractions to be productive and achieve the best results. That means no more checking your phone every five minutes or browsing the internet aimlessly.

So get rid of anything that’s standing in your way when you are working on your goals.

14. Stack your money and act broke.

This is a great rule to live by, especially when it comes to money. If you want to be successful, you need to be smart with your money. That means investing as much as you can and only spending what you need to.

So stack your money and act broke. It might not be the most exciting way to live, but it will pay off in the long run.

15. Work on your mindset every day.

Your mindset is everything. If you have a negative mindset, it won’t be easy to achieve your goals. But if you have a positive mindset, you’ll be surprised at what you can accomplish.

So work on your mindset every day. This means thinking positive thoughts, visualizing your success, and speaking kindly to yourself.

It might sound like a lot of work, but it’s worth it.

16. Get around the right people.

The people you surround yourself with have a significant impact on your life. It will be challenging to stay positive if you’re around negative people. But if you’re around positive people, they will help you achieve your goals.

So make sure you’re surrounding yourself with the right people. This means people who are supportive, positive, and helpful.

17. Set goals that excite you.

If you’re not excited about your goals, it won’t be easy to stay motivated.

So make sure you’re setting goals that excite you. This means goals that are challenging but also achievable.

It’s also essential to make sure your goals are in line with your values. This will help you stay focused and motivated.

18. One win every day.

To achieve your goals, you need to take action every day. Do something that moves you closer to your goal.

It doesn’t matter how big or small the action is. Just make sure you’re taking some form of action every day.

19. One thing that’s most important for the hour.

โ€œWhen eating, eat.โ€ โ€” Zen Proverb

It’s easy to get overwhelmed when trying to achieve multiple things at once. So make sure you’re focusing on one thing at a time. This will help you stay focused and motivated.

Plus, it’s easier to achieve your goals when you’re not splitting your attention.

20. Learn for the long term.

When you’re trying to achieve something, it’s crucial to have a long-term mindset. This means thinking about the future and not just the present.

It’s also essential to stay patient and not get discouraged if you don’t see results right away. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither are most goals.

So keep learning and growing, and eventually, you will reach your destination.

Try to learn the things that will keep on paying for the long term like sales, public speaking, or writing.

21. Give yourself grace once a day.

No one is perfect, and that includes you. So don’t be too hard on yourself if you make a mistake or don’t reach your goal right away.

Instead, give yourself grace. It means being gentle and compassionate with yourself. It also means recognizing that you’re human and doing the best you can.

So cut yourself some slack and be kind to yourself.

22. Things take time.

Achieving your goals is not always going to be easy. There will be times when you feel like giving up. But it’s essential to persevere through the hardships.

So remind yourself that things take time, and eventually, you will reach your goals.

I hope these atomic rules will help you stay on track and achieve your most ambitious goals. Remember, if you don’t take action, you’ll never reach your goal. So get started today and make progress each day. You can do it!
