🌼3 Reasons to Start an Online Business This Year(CHECK THIS OUT)

There are no gatekeepers. No hiring managers. No people who are telling you what to do.

Having only one income source is risky. If that source goes away up or decreases, you’ll have a harder time making ends meet.

Here’s a fact about jobs and businesses: Income is never stable.

Covid showed us that. People who thought their job or business were “secure” suddenly got laid off or were forced to close down. And it happened exactly when they needed more money.

And now, three years later, the same is happening to remote jobs. The WSJ reported that “Remote job opportunities are dwindling as fewer employers feel the need to lure talent with the promise of working from home.”

Jobs are constantly changing. Many repetitive jobs and businesses become obsolete as technology and AI gets better.

If you want to be financially secure, you need multiple income streams. Here are 3 reasons why an online business is a great way to build this.

1. You can start today

There are no gatekeepers. No hiring managers. No people who are telling you what to do.

When you start a business, you have 100% control over what you do and how you do it. This is a liberating feeling.

On top of that, you can start with little money. Now, you only need a “base” for your online operation.

You need your own online “house.” Something you own. Not a social media profile or someone else’s website you publish articles on. You need to have your own website and a newsletter.

“Aren’t those outdated?” This is a lie you’re told by social media hypemen.

On the internet, you can only own your own website and newsletter. Everything else you do is on other people’s terms.

I created a guide for people who want to build a website without knowing how to code in case you want to learn more.

Starting an online business might not require much money. The key is your offer: Are you providing something your target market will find valuable? Spend your time on that question.

2. You can do it from anywhere, anytime

“Digital nomads” like to post about their “workstation”; usually a laptop with some exotic-looking sea in the background. If that’s the lifestyle for you, go for it.

But having location and time flexibility is more than that.

Doing your online business in any location at any time really helps you to live your life more.

Have kids? You can schedule work on certain hours to maximize quality time.

Need more time at work or business? That’s fine! Simply re-schedule the tasks for your online business (as long as you follow-through with your new schedule).

Your customer reach also expands. With an e-commerce website or a blog, you can reach customers from all over the world.

And you can work from anywhere. But trust me, your home is probably the best place to work. Home is where your base is. Where your family and friends are

I’ve travelled to other countries and worked there. But you know the saying. There’s no place like…

3. You have freedom to determine your own schedule

People say an online business gives you “passive income,” as in, “you don’t have to work much.”

But there’s always work to be done if you want your income to keep coming in.

An online business isn’t something you set up and leave — even if that’s the illusion other people might want to show.

Of course, you also don’t have to monitor your website/online store all the time. It’s all about taking charge of your time. And people can buy your digital products/services while you sleep.

For example, when I began launching my online courses, I found that students who sign up would email me questions and concerns.

But I can choose when I respond. And I set up a system to manage my online business without disrupting my concentration.

Because at the end of the day, your customers are the only thing that matter. Serve them well.

A year is enough time to increase your income

So far, I’ve earned multiple six figures as a writer and entrepreneur.

But those didn’t happen within a few weeks or even months. While it took me several years to build a substantial business, I did get good traction after about six months.

If you’re in business, you want to generate within a year. Otherwise you risk becoming one of the entrepreneurs who’s still waiting to generate a profit after 5 years or so.

A year is a good period to build something that will eventually give you financial security.

Imagine spending an hour each day building an online business that would eventually give you financial freedom. No matter how busy you are, you can always reserve an hour of the day to work on your online business.

When it comes to starting new ventures, time is our ally. Consistent effort compounds our results.

That’s how I achieved financial independence after a lifetime of chasing money for the wrong reasons.

Try not to end this year with only your bills and old habits. Start something new.

With consistent effort, you’ll might just find yourself richer by the end of the year. Even if it’s a little bit.
